Hi, my name is Barbarian Adkins. I'm a BFA student at Illinois State University. 

 Teaching Philosophy

 It's my personal belief (and manifesto) that art is for everyone. Everyone is capable of not only enjoying art, but creating it. It is part of what makes us human - it is simply another form of communication. We may not all create as well as we wish to, but that is also very, very human. You learn by struggling, failing, trying again as many times as necessary until you succeed. It is a sacred duty to make art accessible to everyone. It should not be only for the rich. It should be for all of humanity. Creativity isn't just about a pretty picture; it's about problem-solving, experimentation, and learning new strategies. It's about fucking around and finding out. It's about striving for better than what we began with.
